Using Maya old style file browser

In Maya 2011 there is new file browser system which has some new functionality.

However it lacks the old style where you can sort your files by date for example.

You can use the old style by going to Window > Settings/Preferences> Preference >Settings >Files/Projects > File Dialog > Dialog Style > and choose OSnative instead of Maya default.

    You have made several of my fellow artists very, very happy. Thank you.

    If you hit the “detail view” button in the top right of the new file browser you can sort by name, date, size, or type, and you still get the bookmarks section on the left. new > old.

    Sweet Jesus! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I absolutely hate Maya new file browser. It has been driving me crazy! I can’t see half my files, it blocks my ability to access network folders unless I make shortcuts on my desktop, it removed my ability to see the desktop in my shortcuts, etc. I can’t believe how unusable this new browser is in 2011 but, I thank you so much for posting this info so I can have my sanity back again. :)

    the “old style” not really useful as it should be.
    for 2010 or below, u will have a path history section that store each path u visited. (this feature really useful for me)

    now i made a browser toggle for quick access to both browser:
    optionVar -iv FileDialogStyle 1; and optionVar -iv FileDialogStyle 0;
