Maya Render Layers – Tutorial
I am in the process of organizing my site and part of this process includes placing my old tutorials on this blog.
Eventually, the tutorial page on my site will be removed.
In this tutorial we will explore how to use Maya 7.0 new feature “Render Layers”

Thanks a lot, this is very helpful.
Could you describe the material setting for the object that catches the shadow?
Thanks.

I am trying to render layer on Maya 2009. The render passes are saved, when i do batch render.
But when i select the pass layer and render current frame in maya. it does not show the render pass. I did make sure masterlayer is not renderable, still the render shows as master layer.

Make sure that the passes are loaded in the Associated passes section
I made another tutorial about using Passes for Autodesk University
